"The Beauty in Chaos" In this photogram, I used fern leaves, a transparency of a tiger and a cheetah, and photoshop. In photoshop I used the Brightness & Contrast tool to make the picture look like it was fading out as you progress in the repetition. The theme I based the picture off of was beauty and chaos, I also wanted to show how something so different, could be so alike as well. Darkroom, Photoshop, Scanner Completed: September 24, 2014
While learning how to do different techniques in the darkroom and while using the camera, failures and accomplishments occur. My first photo, Train Day 1938 has very strong contrast, giving it a darker look. While in Flower Girl, the picture is much lighter and has more of a fade than strong contrast. Both pictures have detail, as in the brick work, rocks, train, etc. The train tracks in the train photo create leading lines outward and in the flower picture the brick and the bottom of the wall lead your eyes from side to side. Both pictures are taken close up and use the rule of thirds, one subject being centered and the other being put on the right side.
Equine Activism
In my activism project i wanted to bring awareness on horse abuse and neglect. Most of my pictures were taken head on with my subject being in the middle of the picture. My variety of subjects in these pictures were horses that either i owned or horses of the people i knew, as well as objects around the barn to symbolize neglect. I took my pictures close up so you could see the texture of the horses hair and that their features could be bolder. In my display, the pictures are in a pattern of horse, object, horse, object, etc., making your eyes wander. The photos of the objects around the barn have more of a dark, metal feel with strong contrast. While my horse pictures bring more of the sadness out of the project, by taking pictures up close and dark gave that effect.
Run-In Crazy Chicken Coop
During the hand tinting process we took black and white pictures and painted them with paint. While doing this process we had to mix several colors to achieve the color we wanted. I liked the process because it was a challenge to try and match the exact color, but I didn't like it because it was frustrating when I couldn't get the exact color i wanted and because it was such a lengthy project that after the first one I was done.
